Hall Of Fame Information

The Newfoundland Labrador Volleyball Association Hall of Fame was established to formally recognize those who have made a significant contribution or who have demonstrated outstanding performance in the sport of Volleyball in our province.
In this effort to recognize these individuals and teams, it is our intention to create awareness and appreciation for those who are/were involved in volleyball as competitors, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
Inductees into the NLVA Hall of Fame are to be inducted annually at the NLVA AGM’s Awards Banquet. Three categories have been established to recognize individuals and teams:

  • Athlete
  • Builder
  • Team.

Ahtlete / Team

The eligibility requirements to be nominated as an Athlete is to have represented the sport of volleyball with distinction, have compiled an outstanding record in volleyball which extends over a period of years, and is either NL born or a NL resident during the period which outstanding performance is claimed.

Accomplishments to be considered:

  • Participation in NL Provincial Programs
  • Participation in Canadian National Championships
  • Canada Games Participation
  • Participation in CIS or CCAA
  • National Team Participation and Success
  • World Championship and/or Olympic Participation

The TEAM must have been based in NL during the time of the accomplishment (s) The team must have competed in a league or system recognized by the NLVA.

  • Accomplishments to be considered:
  • Exceptional single Seasons (Undefeated Championship Teams)
  • Consecutive Championship teams
  • Exceptional Unbeaten streaks
  • Other exceptional accomplishments

Builder

The eligibility requirements to be nominated as a BUILDER are open to an individual serving as a coach, administrator, official, trainer, manager, etc. Demonstrated outstanding service to Volleyball, demonstrated leadership in the Volleyball Community, and NL born or resident during the period for which outstanding contribution is claimed.

Accomplishments to be considered:

Coach:

  • Coached a minimum of Five(5) years in the Province of Newfoundland Labrador
  • Team Success
  • Individual Development and Future Success
  • Coaching Awards and Recognition Received
  • Integrity and Leadership
  • Commitment to the Development of Athletes and the Sport of Volleyball

Official:

  • Officiated a minimum of Five(5) years in the Province of Newfoundland Labrador
  • Commitment to the Sport of Volleyball as Demonstrated by years of Service and Activity
  • Assignment to Major Championships and Events
  • Level of Certification Attained

Builder:

  • Served in a Volunteer Capacity in the Province of Newfoundland Labrador for a minimum of Five (5) years.
  • Commitment to the Sport of Volleyball as Demonstrated by Years of Service and Activity
  • Extraordinary Contributions to the Development of Volleyball Programs or Events in the Province of Newfoundland Labrador

Deadline for Nominations

Nominations will be accepted anytime. In order to be considered for induction each year, nominations must be received by March 29. The nomination forms must be signed and filled out in full to be considered. Nominations will be retained by the selection committee and considered for a period of five years.

Additional information in support of the nomination will be accepted by the committee during the five year period.
