Although he would continue to play with various club teams, Memorial Varsity in1973-4, and the legendary Razorbacks, he started to officiate and it was as an official that he would make his mark on Volleyball!

The milestones in Guy’s officiating are as follows: 1971-Provincial Rating, 1974-Regional Rating, 1980-National Rating and 1983-awarded International Referee by Federation International de Volleyball. In 2000, he was nominated as a referee in the World League of Volleyball. This is a 6 week inter-continental League featuring 16 Teams.

Guy’s work with Volleyball Canada has also been very impressive! He served on the Board of Directors; 1979-1981 and again ; 1984-1985. He has been the First Referee for the Gold Medal Matches, male and female, from Juvenile to Senior National Championship. As far as can be determined, Guy is the only person to have accomplished this feat!
